We first met Joanne and Matthew what seems like an age ago. They both live very busy lives "down South", so had to arrange their wedding on flying visits to the Peak District. But what a great job they did! They even managed to pick one of the best days of the year weather wise, and the day went off perfectly.
It is not uncommon for us to kidnap the happy couple after their meal for half an hour or so, and whisk them down to the local park for some relaxed pictures in the early evening - often a good time for photography. At this time of the evening you can usually rely on the Pavilion Gardens to be fairly quiet so photography is no problem. However, on this particular evening the park was packed with people in town for a performance of "Shakespeare in the Park". We were down there for nearly an hour and a half and struggled to get Joanne and Matthew away and back to the reception. We got a whole bunch of great pictures. Here are just a few of them. A few more on our Facebook Page here.

Lyme Hall is possibly best known for its role in the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice as the setting where Elizabeth meets Darcy. To be fair, it has quite a lot of other things going for it and is a great place to visit in summer when the gardens are looking their best.
Emily and Tony got married at At St Mary's Church in Disley, then held their reception in the grounds of Lyme Park. The beautiful church and wonderful National Trust property provided a fabulous backdrop for the wedding photographs. Emily has a special connection with Lyme Park as she is the Head Warden there.

Kemp and Kemp - a fresh aproach to wedding catering |
|
Monday, 02 August 2010 23:11 |
Karen and Richard are friends of ours who specialise in providing outside catering for couples who choose a venue that does not offer its own catering services.

Kemp and Kemp are accessible, flexible and highly responsive. They are specialist wedding caterers and a good choice when you care about what you eat and want truly inspired catering with no fuss.
They major on home made food - everything is made from scratch from fresh, seasonal raw ingredients. Nothing is 'from frozen', or brought in, or passed on (or passed off!), they don’t use mixes & don’t take short-cuts. Kemp & Kemp Catering just do fabulous, fresh, homemade, individual food, made to order.
So if you're planning a wedding at Hargate Hall, Cressbrook Hall, Thornbridge Hall, Woodthorpe Hall or Locko Park in Derbyshire, where you are able to choose your own wedding caterers, Richard and Karen could be just the people you need. For more information take a look at their website www.kempandkempcatering.co.uk.

One of the best things about being wedding photographers is that we get to meet some really nice people. This wedding was exactly such an occasion. Mark and Carol it was a pleasure and a privilage to be at your wedding and to meet you family and freinds. It didn't matter the weather was "typical Buxton", there was a lot of love at the Palace Hotel on your wedding day.

Bit of a "chocolate orange" theme running at this wedding - we particularly liked the guy's buttonholes.

The Palace Hotel staff are suprisingly forgiving about indoor confetti.

We photographers notice these things you know.

Charlotte and Ian Engagement Shoot |
|
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 18:22 |
Charlotte and Ian are getting married later on this year in Charlotte's home town of Burton on Trent. As they wanted an outdoor portrait for the wedding reception, we went out one fine May evening and took a set of images at a great location in the Peak District in Derbyshire.
In a very short geographical distance we were able to find bluebell woods, rocky crags and open moorland, providing the perfect setting for a range of different images.

Helen and Leigh tied the knot at the Barcelo Palace Hotel in Buxton before departing to Hong Kong to begin their married life.

Flowers were provided by Charlotte and the ladies at Flowers4You. Orchids, by the way, are a great choice. Fabulous colour and they lasted all day without wilting.

Di spotted this beautiful moment:

These images, below, taken in the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Peak District, Derbyshire.

And these on the steps of the famous Buxton Opera House:

This shot of their first dance (complete with some rather attractive lens flare I think!)

Recently, I listened to a sorry story from a lady who had recently got married. Her wedding photographer had taken several hundred photograhs, then simply put them streight onto a CD and handed her the disk with all the images, just as they had come out of the camera. She had over 500 images, but she felt disappointed. The problem was the pictures just didn't quite look great.
For great wedding photography, there is much more to it than just taking the pictures on the day. In our opinion, it is what the photographer does with the images after the wedding is over that is every bit as important as the work done on the day. In the days of film, this work was done in the darkroom, but today we photographers need to be proficient in Photoshop.
I thought it might be an idea to just explain a little about the work we do with the images after a wedding, before we present them to the bride and groom.

Looking after the images of your wedding |
|
Sunday, 08 March 2009 01:00 |
It's probably not the most pressing consideration when you choose your wedding photographer, but a very important detail is what happens to the digital image files of your wedding after you've received your album and prints? What happens say if something terrible happens to your wedding album and you need to replace it in years to come?
We take the matter of backing up and storing our images very seriously. Click the "Read More" link to find out how we go about it.
