| Lucy and Russell's Wedding |
|
Just one week before this wedding I had walked with Di to the Palace Hotel to see how another wedding photographer was coping with strong winds and driving rain. The poor fellow had to shoot all the groups in the lobby of the hotel - a far from ideal arrangement! However one week later and Buxton was bathed in glorious warm sunshine and the poor photographer (me) had to cope with harsh bright lighting and found himself scratching around to find some nice shade for more flattering photography. Where was God's great diffuser in the sky when it was needed? It was however, a perfect day for the Bride and Groom and the best weather we have had all year in Buxton. Here are some images from the day.
The most amazing and decadent chocolate wedding cake you have ever seen. (tasted good as well).
We stayed for the evening dancing and had a good play with some swanky new wireless flash triggers. This is one of the more successful attempts. Later in the evening Lucy and Russell invited all the guests back out onto the Lawns to see a display of lanterns being launched. These lanterns are like miniature hot air balloons and yes! they are lit with real fire. Amazingly, the Palace Hotel did not burn down (although we were there with cameras poised just in case). The lanterns drifted harmlessly over the market square bringing traffic to a standstill as revellers stood and stared and motorists got out of their cars to see the spectacle.
