Frequently Asked Questions

The wedding of Roz and Phil at Chinley Independent Chapel

Q.   Do you shoot on film or use a digital camera?

A.    I use digital cameras for all wedding shoots. Digital images offer the client greater choice because any photograph can be easily supplied in black and white or colour. It also means that the images can be presented online very quickly for the client to see.

Q.    How many pictures will you take?

A.    For a typical wedding, the number of pictures taken is likely several hundred. Of course with such a large number of images, there are bound to be a number of similar shots where one is clearly the winner, and there will probably be a few "blinkers" or other rejects.  For this reason I perform an initial edit of the set however I always aim to provide you with as much choice as possible.

Q.    Who will have the copyright to the images?

A.    The copyright in the images always belongs to the photographer unless the copyright is assigned as a part of the contract.  I am always willing to discuss assignment or granting of a licence to re-print the images, but this would be subject to an additional charge.

Q.    Do you include meals and transport?

A.    I do not charge any extra for travelling to venues within a 100 mile radius of Buxton in Derbyshire. Travel over 100 miles is invoiced, as is accomodation where it is not practicable to travel to or from the venue in the same day.  As for meals, a meal is always welcome, but I prefer not to be seated at one of the guest tables - there is still work to be done!
