Hassop Hall
Hassop Hall Wedding Photography
Hassop Hall is perfect for your wedding photography for so many reasons. The Hall is set in its own private gardens which complement the surrounding parkland sweeping away from the house. The manicured lawns frame an interesting combination of herbaceous borders, parterre and knot gardens and the walled Italian Garden provides a romantic backdrop for photographs. The south facing terrace along the front of the house is an ideal location for relaxing with a drink on a summer’s evening.

There cannot be many wedding venues in England that combine fabulous location, wonderful grounds, modern convenience and history in the way that Hassop Hall does, making it a perfect location for your wedding photography. Situated near Bakewell, Derbyshire, in the middle of the glorious Peak District National Park, Hassop Hall is simply stunning.
The Domesday Book recorded the manor as the principal residence of the Foljambes family, and it remained so until the 14th century when it passed by marriage to Sir Robert Plumpton and was subsequently sold to Catherine Eyre. Thomas Eyre, a staunch Royalist, substantially re-built the manor house in the early 17th century and allowed the Hall to be garrisoned by King Charles’ army during the Civil War. In 1646 the estate was sequestered by the Commonwealth and the family had to pay a substantial sum for its return.
The house was rebuilt again in around 1774 and then greatly altered by Francis Eyre in 1827, who returned from a grand tour of Europe and created the substantial mansion we see today, with an impressive south front of three storeys and seven bays. Francis also had built the unusual Catholic church, designed in the Classical Revival style, its front resembling an Etruscan temple. The house and grounds were bought by Thomas Chapman in 1975, when it was converted into an hotel.
The Ballroom Banqueting House and Old Brewery provide a fabulous setting for Wedding Receptions at Hassop Hall, creating a luxurious ambience to enjoy wonderful food and great service. For wedding photography we particularly like the gorgeous Italian Gardens and the sumptuous Ballroom.

Whilst it might not have been the hottest summer on record, 2011 certainly has had it’s share of bright sunny days. October 1st(!) and it was wall to wall sunshine all day and HOT, perfect for Camilla and Tom’s wedding at All Saints church at Hassop, then their wedding reception at the fabulous Hassop Hall. Hassop hall is a stunning wedding venue, perfect for wedding photography, and the fabulous weather just gave the day a great lift.

We hooked up with the guys in the beer garden at the Eyre Arms. The pub conveniently almost adjoins Hassop Hall. We got a few photographs in the gardens before setting off for church.

The beautiful and quite grand All Saints church at Hassop Hall.

The rings were just sitting there – itching to be photographed!

Job done!

This is a live signing folks. The priest didn’t break for photographs, so it’s just as well we got this one when we had the chance!

Due to the harsh autumn sunshine, we worked hard all day to find good light for our photos.

Tom and Camilla took a short spin in the old Rolls Royce.

The rest of us walked down the long drive between All Saints church and Hassop Hall.

What better way to spend this late summer day than drinks on the lawn at Hassop Hall

After groups, there was just enough time for a short bride and groom wedding photography session in the grounds at Hassop Hall.

These photographs are included just to show what a fabulous wedding wenue Hassop Hall really is. The service here is first rate, and they even look after the photographers well too!!

All the speeches were good, but Tom’s deserves a special mention. OK – he had made a few notes, but all the same an absolutely top speech.

Elice and David held their wedding at St.Leonard’s church in Monyash, then drove themselves in their John Deere tractor to the reception at Hassop Hall, Derbyshire. On the way, we stopped off in a hay field for some wedding photography with the tractor. Hassop Hall provided the backdrop for some more great Hassop Hall wedding photography in the evening.

David and Elise drove themselves from the church to Hassop Hall by tractor.

En-route between Monyash and Hassop Hall, we stopped off for some unique photographs in a hay field. Actually, David and Elice particularly wanted some photographs with the tractor.

The Hassop Hall wedding photography starts here!

The gardens at Hassop Hall are a photographer’s delight and just terrific for wedding photography.
