Old Hall Hotel, Buxton, Derbyshire

Old Hall Hotel Wedding Photography

The Old Hall Hotel in Buxton is reputedly the oldest Hotel in England. Famously, it was frequented by Mary Queen of Scots, when she visited Buxton to take the waters. The hotel oozes charm and history and is perfect for your wedding photography

Today, it is a great venue for weddings. It provides an intimate setting for smaller weddings, but can also accommodate larger weddings (90 seated guests) in it’s restaurant and the Orchestra Pit (150 guests) for evening celebrations.

Best of all, it is directly opposite the Pavilion Gardens, so it is possible to have your wedding photography in this beautiful park.

OK folks, pay attention, because this one was complicated! Ellen and Jonathan really wanted to get married on the bandstand in the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton. Trouble was, the weather forecast was terrible so the decision was taken to hold the ceremony in the conservatory at the Pavilion Gardens instead. So, everything was set up in the conservatory ready (including the string quartet). Then – right at the last minute, when it looked as though the rain might just hold off – they decided to switch to the Bandstand. Guests were re-directed, the string quartet hurridly relocated and the ceremony took place on the Bandstand – Yee Hah!

Right at the end of the ceremony the rain started. Big group photo? – yep, you guessed correctly – back in the conservatory, still set out with the chairs ready for the ceremony that didn’t take place. Undaunted, we cleared away the chairs and got the big group shot. By which time it had stopped raining. So, everbody outside, and we were able to get the remaining groups done in the park. That’s June in Derbyshire for you!

Regulars will know I like to use this window. It has different posters in it every time we visit, so no two are ever the same.

Jodie and Phil’s wedding had a sort of “Subaru” theme to it. A great day starting at St Peter’s Church in Buxton, before doing the group shots and a quick Bride and Groom session in the Pavilion Gardens (always fun on a warm sunny afternoon!). Reception was at the Old Hall hotel in Buxton, Derbyshire.
